Challenges of Coming Up with the Content
As a digital presence management agency, one of the biggest challenges that we have found when working with our clients is coming up with content that is relevant to the target audience.
Because of this, our clients have shared the struggle with us when it comes to coming up with ideas for content.
The Framework
In this blog, I would like to go over some of the ways that we generate content for our clients and maintain their social media presence.
As a framework for coming up with content to share online, we first need to identify and look at our target audience. Once we understand who we want to speak to and interact with, we move on to figure out what we want to say to them, or what message we want to get across.
Understanding Your Audiences Problem
The one crucial question to ask yourself before you start thinking of generating any content is what problem are you solving.
One of the reasons that our brands fail to connect with their audience, has to do with the audience feeling disconnected from the brand. When the audience doesn’t feel like you are addressing the problems that they’re facing, they tend to feel indifferent towards your brand.
You can put in some work to try and understand your audience’s problems and the challenges that they face. Understanding these challenges contribute a great deal to your content strategy.
Simply put, everything you share should be geared towards helping your audience solve a particular problem. This might sound limiting at first, but remember, the problem your audiences face could as well be sadness in need of laughter so that kinda makes it okay to post a meme or two. It could also mean posting valuable information for your audience to consume. Whatever gets you a step closer to aid your audience.
Riding the Wave
Another way to easily get access to your audience is by understanding where they are and what they do. The best way of doing this is to put yourself in their shoes and imagine what they see, what they do, and what will pique their interest. You can easily do this by identifying things like public holidays that are important to your audience. By sharing our involvement and awareness about these public holidays you get to ride the wave and hopefully get on your audience’s radar.
Sharing the Process
Your audience will want to know more about you. This is a way for them to gain trust and learn more about who you are and what you value. Show your audience what is going on behind the curtains of your organization. This will help them feel like they’re part of the team.
Sharing the process can take the form of videos and photos about how you run your business or how you build your brand.
This method works especially well for local brands. When the audience can connect with your process at a local level, you’re more likely to connect with them, and as a result, understand what they want to see from your business.
Another way to show the process is by showcasing your team. Even if your main form of branding is not personal branding, your brand can still benefit from showing that it has real human beings behind it. When your audience can see that there are real people working behind the brand, it helps them connect better with the brand itself.
Gaining Social Proof
Generally speaking as human beings we appreciate the validation. As part of your content strategy, it is wise to share what others say about you. This could be in the form of testimonies from audiences that have used your products or services. When your prospective clients and audience see this social proof they are more likely to want to join the crowd.
“People are okay being wrong with the many, that being right alone”
Social Impact
Doing good for the community is always positive. If your brand happens to be a kind of brand that is already doing some good in the community then sharing this as part of your content strategy will be very helpful to your brand. This kind of content can be in the form of announcements, or as a call to action which will encourage the involvement of your audience in your social impact projects.
In the end, there are so many ways to get content to share on social media. And the methods shared above are some of the ways to get your foot in the game. One thing to keep in mind is consistency, when you find something that works try and be as consistent as you can so that your audience knows how to perceive you.
